A message from our President & CEO
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
For 30 years, the Community Fund for Women & Girls at The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has been a force for progress – thanks to the generosity, vision and unwavering belief of our community in a future where women and girls thrive.
It’s my distinct honor to invite you to join our yearlong celebration of the Fund’s 30th anniversary, themed “Many Voices, One Vision,” in reflection of the energy and determination of the many women who have been part of and continue to shape our journey.
From a bold idea in 1995 to a powerful force for positive change, the Fund has built leadership and financial strength in our community. It has awarded more than $2 million in grants to local programs, helping women regain stability, find safety after domestic violence, gain career skills and more. It has also helped girls develop life skills, leadership and academic success while connecting them with quality healthcare and mentorship.

The Fund has inspired countless women to drive change through philanthropy, advocacy and action. Through community conversations, events with leaders like Gloria Steinem and Linda Sarsour, and grassroots efforts, the Fund has united us as a strong, connected community ready to find solutions.
Today, these hard-fought advances face new challenges. But I know that when Greater New Haven comes together, we can overcome them. “Many Voices, One Vision” is about mobilizing forward, inspired by the generosity and vision of those who paved the way.
If you haven’t already, please connect with us by email to be part of this celebration. Throughout the year, we’ll share uplifting stories, invite you to events, and update you on ways to help our work reach new heights.
Thank you for sharing our vision for a future where all women and girls thrive. Change begins at home – and change is in our hands. Together, let’s show up steadfastly to make the next 30 years even stronger.
In solidarity,
Karen DuBois-Walton

About the Community Fund for Women & Girls
Since 1995, the Community Fund for Women & Girls – a component fund of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven – has been the region’s only endowment dedicated to promoting the social and economic advancement of women and girls. The Fund tackles gender inequity in the Greater New Haven area through grants, advocacy, strategic philanthropy and collaboration. In addition to funding innovative research-driven initiatives such as the Pathways to Economic Security for Women grant program and the Girls of Color Mentoring Network, the Fund raises awareness by convening stakeholders and hosting public events with high-profile thought leaders.
